Televangelists, preachers, rabbis. Those guys always want something from us. Even Jesus!
Starting in verse 36, a woman annoints Christs head with expensive perfume. She demonstrates her belief in Him. It is from the heart and in the face of disbelievers. No one thought any better of her and, in fact, they called her names.
Then the Son of God silenced them.
Luke 7:50
Jesus said to the woman Your faith has saved you; go in peace.
Jesus has perfume poured over his head in three passages I can find in the New Testament. This is either an extremely complicated meeting that allows for intricate conversations or there were multiple events.
I cant say I know which is the correct answer but doctor Lukes passage in verses 7:36-7:50 clearly focuses on one crucial point: faith.
It is no mystery that Jesus is telling us that when we display our faith in Him eternal salvation is ours. Bang, done. Forever.
When faced, however, with the question How do I know what God wants? the short answer is always faith.
Some later time we can tackle whether that is a verb or a noun.

The Bible records an occasion that God made it possible for a donkey to talk.
There will probably be an occasion that you can talk about Jesus to a friend who will listen.
Who is the donkey in this story?

What does it mean to be a Social Conservative? Im not sure myself as it seems to vary by the speaker. Most of the voices making the statement claim to be conservative or Christian. The common meaning seems to say, laughingly or scornfully, that a person is wrongly taking Christian values (read, integrity!) into public life.
So if the person that is laying the accusation is not a social conserative, what are they? The non-social conservative has an issue with the display of values we used to identify as good, decent, American. So, guess they at some level must favor evil, indecency, or that which is in-American.
Ill call them opportunities for loving ministry.

This is the greatest thing about God. No, you cannot lose your relationship with Him. Not even if you want to!
You can re-imagine Star Trek (sort of), but this is something that never changes. Read the rest of this entry »

Matthew 22:19
Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius, and he asked them, “Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?”
“Caesar’s,” they replied.
Then he said to them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”
